How Repair Check Works
Repair Check is a practical decision model, not an appliance diagnostic tool. It evaluates a repair that has already been diagnosed and quoted.
What it considers
The model considers appliance type and expected useful life, age, repair cost, replacement cost, multiple current issues, and whether another significant repair has already been needed.
What it does not score
Repair category provides context, but specific components do not receive arbitrary seriousness penalties. Efficiency, brand reliability, free-text descriptions, and front-load versus top-load are not scoring inputs. Range fuel affects expected useful life because gas and electric benchmarks differ.
Practical estimates
Useful-life benchmarks are practical estimates, not guarantees that an appliance will fail at a particular age. Repair Check is not professional appliance, financial, or safety advice.
Sourcing policy
Material quantitative claims that influence advice should be supported by credible sources. Estimates are presented as practical benchmarks or ranges rather than guarantees.
